Playwright: Michele Markarian

Michele Markarian’s plays have been produced across the United States and UK, and appear in two Best Ten-Minute Play anthologies by Smith and Kraus, as well as anthologies by Dramatic Publishing and by Oxford University Press USA. Her work can also be found through Heuer Publishing. The Unborn Children of America and Other Family Procedures, a collection of Michele’s family plays, was published by Fomite Press and available through Amazon. Director: Tanya Khanna

Tanya Khanna is an Indian director, writer, and actor based in Seoul. Currently a senior in Media Acting at Konkuk University, she has worked across theatre and film as a performer, director, writer, producer, and editor. Her work as a writer-director includes the short films Four Cuts and Bling Bling, as well as the original stage play Dear, Love of My Life, which was presented at Theatre Joy in Daehangno. She is also working on her graduation short film, Home Finding, which she wrote, directed, and stars in. Moving between performance and authorship, Tanya is drawn to intimate, character-driven stories that examine identity, family, relationships, memory, belonging, and the expectations people place upon themselves and one another. Her work often approaches emotionally complex relationships through quiet observation, restrained humour, and moments of unsettling absurdity.

Featuring:
Mariam Ibrahim as Mrs. Downer

Mariam Ibrahim is a writer, editor and actor. She is excited to be performing for the first time in the Seoul Players Ten-Minute Play Festival. In Seoul she has performed in two Get in the Van productions – Things I Know to be True in 2025 and Emma in 2026. She has also previously performed with Seoul City Improv. Before moving to Korea, she was an award-winning reporter, podcaster, and television and radio commentator in Canada.
Luke James Adams as Mr. Downer

Being relatively new to Korea, this will be Luke’s first time performing in the festival, having recently completed a production with the Seoul Shakespeare Company and a stage-reading for Seoul Players. His prior acting experience has mainly focused on amateur theatre, with the highlight being a performance at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival as Mephistophilis in Doctor Faustus. Other favorite roles include Too Much Light (as an ensemble troupe member), Harold Pinter’s A Night Out (as Seeley), and Miss Julie (as Jean). He is thrilled to be working with the fantastic cast in this festival production.
Tasia Abbatecola as Dr. Laurel

Tasia is a writer who usually creates fictional people rather than pretending to be them. She has performed with Seoul City Improv and both written for and acted in the 24 Hour Sketch Show. Most of her time is spent writing, including a novel she has been working on for an amount of time she would rather not disclose. Otherwise she can usually be found at a concert, in a coffee shop, or getting overly invested in a story, fictional or otherwise. She’s thrilled to be joining Seoul Players and continue her acting adventure.
